No cookie banner needed

You may have noticed that this blog never asks you to "accept cookies". That's not an oversight: we simply don't do anything that would require your consent.

We set no cookies at all

Two Waves and a Dot is a plain static site. There is nothing to sign in to, so there is nothing to remember about you. We set no cookies, and we store nothing in your browser's local or session storage.

Cookie consent rules (the ePrivacy Directive, implemented in Germany as §25 TDDDG) require consent for storage that is not strictly necessary for the service you asked for. We store nothing at all, so there is nothing to consent to, and a banner would just be in your way.

What we don't do

• No advertising. We show no ads.
• No analytics. We run no Google Analytics or any other analytics provider.
• No third-party tracking. No tracking pixels, no fingerprinting, no data sales. Ever.
• No third-party fonts or scripts. The fonts and the one small script this site uses are served from our own domain, so your browser never contacts anyone else to render a page.

What our hosting sees

The site is served through Cloudflare. Like any web server, it processes the technical data your browser sends with each request (IP address, user agent, the page requested, the time) to deliver the page and to keep the site available and secure. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie (__cf_bm) to tell human visitors from bots. That is not something we use to recognise or track you, and it needs no consent.

The exception: content we link to

Our articles link out to other sites, and a post may occasionally embed an image or video hosted elsewhere. Once you follow such a link, or once an embedded item loads, you are dealing with that provider under their privacy policy, not ours. We have no control over what they store.
